Resumen inglés The unemployed people according to the Labour Force Survey (EPA) amounts to 4,6 million in 2ndQ/2010, while the list of Public Employment Service (SPEE) records 4,1 million in the average of the same quarter. On the other hand, the number of employed people according to the EPA is estimated at 18,5 million, while Social Security workers are 17,7 million in the average of the same quarter. Those sources are the most relevant of the Spanish labour market, and their characteristics must be known to understand the discrepancies. Beyond speci¯c differences in relation to the groups considered, the main discrepancy is methodological, while the EPA is a survey designed to study the total population, the others are administrative records that are subject to legal regulations.
Palabras clave inglés Employment, unemployment, official statistics.
